Our Annie (Part 1)

I know, I know.  I am so sorry for not posting earlier!!  They brought Annie to our room about 4:20 yesterday.  It was very evident that she was very bonded with the Director of New Day and one of the Ayi (which I believe she called "Mama").  She was NOT HAPPY when they set her down so we could meet her.  She cried and cried and backed away from us and called for her Mama and Baba (clearly not us).  She wanted her "Mama" to hold her and was crying for her so she did while she went over some of her medical information.  Then it was time for them to leave and Annie cried and cried and wanted to be by the door where she'd last saw them leave.  It was heartbreaking to see but a good sign that she had established a bond, which means that she can transfer that bond to us so we will pray for that.  I guess there's a part of me that feels guilt for hurting her heart and taking her away from all that she knows and loves.  We are so grateful for a place like New Day that cares so wonderfully for these children so that they can be adopted by their forever families eventually.

She brought a backpack with her full of the picture album we sent her, pictures of her over the years, preschool art (A-you're amazing!!), stickers, crayons & coloring book, and gifts from families who had sponsored her for Christmas.    She didn't want to unpack them and we spent a long time unpacking and repacking them.  "Her" cup gave us the first sight of a slight grin--she was so happy to see it in there.  Her coming with all of this was so heart warming for me(thank you New Day).  Mei Mei came to us with nothing but the photo album and a giraffe that we had sent her-she didn't "own" anything.

We only had a few hours and then it was bedtime which went well.  Daddy held her until she fell asleep.  I think she might be a Daddy's girl :) :).......

I know you don't want to read anymore and want to see this beautiful girl.  Here she is.  WARNING:  She is even more beautiful in person!!
