Day #1 Beijing....Hitting the City

Our first day in Beijing was great! Last time we were in China we literally laid our heads on the pillow and got back on an airplane so we were very excited to see the city.  Amazing--high rise buildings as far as your eye can see in every direction!!
We were on the subway by 7:50 to travel about an hour outside the city where a driver was waiting to take us to New Day Beijing (not where our girl is). We knew it would be a fun adventure at rush hour and it didn't disappoint! At one stop, we literally felt swept back as people squeezed in.  Friends sent many needed donations including 45lbs. of formula for some of the very sick babies and we were very happy to bring it to them!  As a footnote, take a look Ethan's jacket, yes it is the Bellman's overcoat.  When we stepped off the plane at 11:30 we notice he had forgotten his winter jacket and we were leaving early the next morning.  The hotel was gracious enough to lend Ethan the jacket.

We spent the morning there and enjoyed the chance to love on some of the children that we'd seen only in pictures for so long.  And let me tell you, if you think they are cute in pictures, you should see them in person.  It is an amazing place!!  They take such amazing care of these children and truly love them.
We saw some "interesting" sights on our way out of the city to New Day and this was our favorite!
In the afternoon, we went to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City and then back to the hotel for dinner and an early night.
Only 2 more days until we are united with our girl!! Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!!

  1. I am so glad to read about your fun day! Ethan looks very handsome in his
"new coat." I must admit....I am counting down the hours too for y'all to hold Annie in your arms.

    Love y'all,

    Sandra
