Day #2 in Beijing

Just settling in from another adventurous day in Beijing.  We decided we better come in early this afternoon and relax before our BIG day tomorrow!

We headed to the Great Wall today which was so incredible.  We went to the Mutinyu section where we took a chair lift up to the wall.  We climbed and walked and took in the breath-taking views--it was even better than I thought it would be.

We sure did miss the rest of the clan!

We made many new friends and Jeff spent a small fortune with the local people selling things there:

We rode a toboggan down from the top which I must admit was very thrilling. Especially since my hubby rode behind me so he could "videotape". Actually, most of the time he was right behind me, joined to my toboggan so that I couldn't slow down very much. I've become a chicken in my old age and I think it's my family's goal not to let that happen!!  I must admit, since I walked out alive, it was rather fun!

And speaking of coming out alive, I was very glad to get back to our hotel. Taxi drivers here are very impatient and drive like maniacs.  Apparently, staying in your lane on 2 way roads and stopping at stop signs are optional here!

We were so excited to wrap up the day meeting new friends.  We have a new, sweet, sweet friend at home who is from here but is a student now at Marquette.  Her friends came to our hotel this afternoon to visit us.  They are just as joyful as she is and it was so fun meeting them.  We all even "face-timed" our friend at home to say "hi"! Technology is amazing!!

NOW FOR THE REASON WE ARE HERE!!!!

Less than 24 hours now!!!! Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!  I feel like she's been ours forever already.  I know I am going to want to just scoop her up and give her the biggest hug ever but I will hold myself back as much as I can!  This will be a hard day for her, I am sure.  Her life will be changing in a big way so please keep her little heart in your prayers.

  1. From what I have heard, she is having a "grand old time" at the moment! I'm telling you, she wsa set to go. Had her backpack and was ready to head out the door as we were all saying goodbye. She's ready to get this "show on the road!"

  2. Deb,

I can't believe the time is almost here for you to "meet" Annie in person. I remember in the winter of 2011, how we sat on the computer and marveled at here beautiful picture. Please give her an extra BIG hug from the Breetz family and tell her we love her and can't wait to meet her and hold her in our arms!!!!!!!

    I love you,

    Sandra
